Through my time spent at Leeds University and through studying the piano for over 17 years, I have a gained a vast knowledge of musical history, style, composition and theory. I teach anything from classical piano to jazz improvisation, whether you are looking to work through the ABRSM Grades, learn by ear or brush up on your music theory.
I teach privately from two separate Bristol locations; Central Bristol, and North West Bristol.
I have two fantastic acoustic upright pianos and two top of the range stage keyboards (The Nord electro 3 and The Roland RD 300SX). I have a library of classical and jazz piano music, and can also print any piece of sheet music you wish to learn.
During our lessons we can talk about which books would be best suited to your needs. Here are a few suggestions for pupils working from novice to intermediate level:
Mark Levine, The Jazz Piano Book - MORE INFO
Tim Richards, Improvising Blues Piano - MORE INFO
Tim Richards, Exploring Jazz Piano - MORE INFO
Carol Barratt, The Classic Piano Course - MORE INFO
Eric Taylor, Music Theory In Practice Grades 1 - 8 - MORE INFO
I teach from Monday - Thursday. I can offer Weekend lessons also if they are arranged in advance.
£15 - half an hour lesson
£30 - one hour lesson
£275 - 10 lessons
Learning the piano is very enjoyable and rewarding. Through regular practice great things can be achieved - you will be amazed how quickly you can progress if you think positively and keep practising!
